BUREAU V specializes in the design and production of architecture that engages in beauty, culture, and economy.  The studio's expertise lies in a range of work from cultural institutions to large commercial buildings to performance and new media installations.  Founded in 2007 by Peter Zuspan, Stella Lee, and Alexander Pincus, BUREAU V has developed a diverse portfolio of experimental work.  Significant projects include a collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Imaginary Forces on the design of Infoscape, the new information landscape for the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts; a new facade for ESL Corporation's headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ; Autopilot, a theatrical production performed in Los Angeles's Walt Disney Concert Hall; and Abacus, a performance and installation to be exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

 
PETER ZUSPAN teaches architecture at Columbia University and has taught architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the Contributing Architectural Editor of the arts journal Museo. He has worked as a new media specialist and lead designer at Diller Scofido + Renfro, and as lead designer at EAR Studio. His collaborative work has been exhibited and performed at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Institute, the Zentrum für Kunst und Mediatechnologie, the National Design Museum, and the Musei d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. Previous collaborative projects include new media installations Movable Type and Dark Source with Ben Rubin and the performance installations Noise Mass and I'll Bring the Thunder with Arto Lindsay. He holds a Bachelors of Arts and Master of Architecture from Columbia University.

 
STELLA LEE has worked at Richard Meier & Partners, Eisenman Architects, and most recently, Asymptote Architecture. As a Senior Designer at Asymptote, Stella led the design of the World Business Center in Busan, Korea, two pavilions for the Guggenheim's Cultural District of Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., and the Alessi flagship store in New York, which won the 2007 Travel + Leisure Award for Best Retail Space and the AIA Interior Architecture Merit Award. Stella has also collaborated on and designed media projects that include Mystic Bones, a book by Mark C. Taylor, and Richard Meier & Partners' website, one of Taschen's 1000 Favorite Websites. Stella holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, where she received the Lowenfish Memorial Award.

 
ALEXANDER PINCUS teaches architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and has taught architecture at Columbia University. He has worked at Eisenman Architects, Archi-Tectonics and most recently, Asymptote Architecture. As a senior designer for Asymptote, he led the design of the international competition winning Budapest Bank Towers in Hungary, the Al Raha Beach Residential Tower in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and the Volkswagen Knowledge Gate in Wolfsberg, Germany. In addition to his architectural work, Alex's other designs includes the LQ Chandelier for Zumtobel's Avant Garde Collection, limited edition furniture pieces for Phillips de Pury, and interactive media for Volkswagen and Sony. Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and Master of Architecture from Columbia University, where he received the Honor Award for Excellence in Design. www.pinc.us
