Abacus

Commissioned by the Whitney Museum for its retrospective, Buckminster Fuller: Starting with the Universe, Abacus is a site-specific performance and installation piece produced in collaboration with Lars Jan of Early Morning Opera. By recombining material and rhetorical tropes of Buckminsiter Fuller’s oeuvre, the piece seeks to construct a new relevance to Fuller’s methods of making. [Abacus was unfortunately cancelled due to financial constraints. Subsequently the project has been awarded a residency and grant from EMPAC and will be workshopped and developed at their facility in the Spring of 2009.]
